The “Bid” Process

In order to join Lambda Chi Alpha, potential members must first receive a bid, which is an invitation to join as an Associate Member. Minimum criteria to be considered as a potential new member is based on academic achievement as well as ability to meet financial obligations. New members who accept their bid then take their first oath during the Associate Membership Ceremony, a formal ritual which is open to the public.

Call to Brotherhood

Next, Lambda Chi Alpha educates new members with the Call to Brotherhood program, a developmental learning process that guides participants through a series of values-based experiences designed to give Associate Members the opportunity to learn more about themselves in preparation for their role as an initiated brother of Lambda Chi Alpha.

New Members are Not Pledges

New members in Lambda Chi Alpha aren't like other fraternities. There are no pledges in Lambda Chi Alpha. New members have the same rights and responsibilities as initiated brothers when they join as Associate Members of the fraternity. This means that Associate Members have full voting privileges, can hold office, and can even sit on the Executive Committee before they are initiated. Most importantly, any form of hazing is not tolerated within Lambda Chi Alpha
