On March 2, 1946, the Alpha Delta Alpha local fraternity was chartered as a chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha. 65 years later Lambda Chi Alpha continues to establish a unique brotherhood for the cultivation of good will among men.
Local Alumni and Active members of the Zeta-Alpha Chapter gathered last night at the Clark Alumni House on Coe’s campus to celebrate the founding of Zeta-Alpha Zeta.
Attendees enjoyed a brief presentation from Brother High Alpha Ethan Olson about the current status of the chapter, most notably the approval of Zeta-Alpha as an Inner Circle Chapter.
Brother High Rho Kyle Preuninger spoke next about some of the upcoming events for alumni to attend, including the Alumni vs. Actives flag football game on Sunday, April 17 on the Greene Quad. Preuninger is also planning the 65th anniversary celebration to take place during Homecoming of 2011 in September.
Brother High Pi Dave Tominsky finished the presentation by complimenting the hard work of the chapter and inviting alumni to participate in the events of the Eastern Iowa Alumni Association.
Approximately twenty local alumni were in attendance, including honorable guest Duane Kurrelmeyer, an member of the local fraternity Alpha Delta Alpha (ADA). Kurrelymeyer was away in the Navy during 1946 when ADA was chartered as Lambda Chi Alpha. He then graduated from Coe in 1948.
Interested alumni were also able to re-visit Greene Hall to see the status of the chapter room renovations currently taking place.
Local Alumni Brothers are encouraged to mark their calendars on March 2 for years to come for in order to celebrate the establishment of Zeta-Alpha Zeta.
Thank you to all Alumni Brothers who continuously make an effort to stay in touch with the local chapter.
